I completed my training to be a commercial clerk at Baumaterial Hägendorf AG in Hägendorf. In April 1974, I joined SUDAN PARTNER AG (Solidis today) as an audit assistant. In 1980, I became a certified bookkeeper, switched to the Kammerschule (school for continuing education), and became a certified public accountant in 1984.

I am married and have three adult children. I was a city council member in Stüsslingen for several years and led this municipality as the mayor from 1989 to 1997. I was the president of the Heidental Stüsslingen/Lostorf golf club from 1998 to 2006.
